Outreach: Our faith in action.

For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.”

James 2:26

So often the benefits and positivity that fuels the initiation of outreach and ministry may become lost in a single generation. Therefore, we should be mindful and flexible to move with the needs of communities and individuals.

With that the outreach of the church will remain strong and relevant to the members, volunteers and the recipients.

Making the Connections

When a call was made to churches and resources together Borrego Springs Community jumped right in with First UMC of Calexico and El Centro UMC to help create ways for refugees and recent immigrants food, bedding, and safe spaces while awaiting the immigration process.

While we hosted our first two families we invite all churches to have serious discussions about unused spaces on church campuses.

Let’s keep making connections!

Thank you to all who donated items, time, prayers and also the delivery.

Clothing Closet.

This started with a simple facebook post for a need of attire for church and since has helped families, orphanages, refugees, the stranded sojourner and unhoused individuals in need of footwear to blankets.

While there are several strong food banks in town, our pantry is meant to help get those through those ‘in-between’ periods, until the next food drive.

Children & Youth

This is still in development, looking for individuals willing to be trained and certified while exploring what is needed.

The collage to the left is from ’Elevate 2024’, which focuses on the youth workers & volunteers by providing healing space and connections to resources and peers.

Showing a welcoming spirit is important to our faith, to feed the body and to nourish the spirit.

Our shower ministry help provide a hot shower to people in need during crisis or as part of their travels. Sometimes it is just about washing the dust off our feet from a long day.

This is a new ministry. To schedule a trip talk to Pastor Mateo.
